

Ralph Johnson of Sarasota FL. Born Jan. 3, 1933 in Wellston, OH. To Ralph and Dorthea (Freeman) Johnson Passed on to our Lord June 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his three sons, Greg, Eric and Scott Johnson
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Margaret (Barthelemy), his daughters, Cindy Myers (James), Julie and Beth Johnson, grandchildren, Nicholas and Megan Veech, Daniel and Douglas Coss, Jordan, Travis and Connor King, Maggie Johnson, Jacob Johnson and Maria Johnson Copeland, great grandchildren, Elle and Mason Veech, Lucy, Carson and Barrett Copeland.
Ralph was self-educated and began his accomplished career at the age of 17 at Reynolds & Reynolds in Dayton , OH. He started by sweeping floors in the pressroom and retired at the age of 55 as Executive Vice President of Corporate Industrial Relations. He Loved the art of debating and was a skilled Union negotiator in his earlier career.
His many hobbies include his love of music (piano, banjo, and ukulele), golf, bowling, and track. A man of integrity, discipline, and a reputation for fairness, with an incredible work ethic. Punctuality, loyalty, devotion, providing for his family, and gentle nature, were among his many traits. Competition, the outdoors, boating, and fishing were high on his list. His favorite recreation was dancing. He was a letterman at Stivers High School.
He served in the Infantry as Sergeant during the Korean War and was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA. He was Commander of the Sarasota Power Squadron, a member of the SAR and the Mayflower Society. His recent conversion to Catholicism was a defining moment in his life.
He is very much loved and his absence will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church, 1900 Meadowood St, Sarasota, FL. 3423
