Ronnie was born in Sarasota, Florida on December 24th, 1949. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1967 and served 4 years in the Vietnam War. He went to NCO school in Okinawa Japan in 1969 and was a Corporal at the time of his discharge. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal during his service.
Ronnie moved back to Sarasota after leaving the Marine Corps and became a plumber. He would go on to meet and marry Jerilynn Barnes of Indiana. They had two sons, Ronald Junior and James. Ronnie’s passions were enjoying a beer, telling jokes, and fishing.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his son Ronnie Junior and wife Jeri in 2003.
He is survived by his mother Juanita, brothers Bobby and Casey, sister Susan, and son Jim.
Services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30pm on Friday August 17, 2018. A Celebration of Life will follow at VFW Post 3233: 124 S Tuttle Avenue Sarasota, Florida 34237.
