A man of great faith, Roy was a devoted Christian who eagerly anticipated the day he would meet Jesus. His life was marked by his strength, love, and generosity, which he freely shared with all who knew him. Whether it was through his powerful presence at the gym, or his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. Roy left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
After retiring from the construction industry and closing his business, Roy discovered a hobby that soon became his greatest passion—powerlifting. He was immensely proud of his accomplishments, earning five gold medals with the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting Team, along with numerous trophies and medal placements. Roy also held multiple world records in powerlifting and had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and overseas to compete, achieving recognition and friendships wherever he went.
Known for his trademark of being "Captain Redneck" for wearing cowboy boots with his shorts to beat the Florida heat, Roy was the happiest outside. Since retirement Roy could be found at the gym, driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle and always ready to lend a helping hand with a project for friends or family.
Roy's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His strength, humor, and love for life will be cherished forever.
