

Roy George Krause passed away on Sep. 20, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born on Aug. 14, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI to the late George and Blanche (Zigmund) Krause. After graduating from Hammond High School he worked in a foundry until he joined the Navy in 1942. Roy ended up sailing all over the world and visited Hiroshima right after the war ended there. After being discharged from the Navy, Roy started working for Northern Bell Telephone Co. in Milwaukee. While installing phone equipment at M & I Bank in Milwaukee,, he met the love of his life, Myrtle Nehring, who was working as a secretary to a Trust Attorney there. Romance blossomed and they were married on Apr. 23, 1955 in Milwaukee. In 1956 their daughter Diane was born. The family moved to Florida in 1957 and to Sarasota in 1958. Roy began working at GTE in Sarasota until he retired from there at the age of 65. Their son, Daniel was born in 1959. There were many happy years boating and beaching and picnicking in Sarasota and all over Florida. Roy also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. In later years there were many road trips exploring all parts of the US.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 plus years, Myrtle; his loving daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Alex; his son Daniel and daughter-in-law, Lori; grandchildren, Andrew, Greg and Leah. Roy is also survived by his younger brother, Robert and sister-in-law, Bernadette; niece, Patty and nephews, David, Glen and Don, and David and Ronald Nehring. He also leaves two fur babies, Tigger and Bebe and five grandkitties and two grand turtles.
A Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM on Mon. Sep. 25, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tues. Sep. 26, 2017, all at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232.
