Selma M. Garcia, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2025. She was a hardworking woman who turned her dreams into reality. Selma was proud and appreciative of the freedom and liberty her family had in the United States. She worked in the fashion industry in New York City for over 55 years. In her 70’s, she graduated as a nurse and a life-long dream became her second career. Her zest for travel was second only to her love for her family. As the matriarch of her family, she has left a void, but her life lessons were learned, and her family thrives because of her.
Selma is survived by her 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters.
A memorial service to honor Selma will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Robert Toale and Sons, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34232. The memorial will begin with a viewing at 10:00 am and be followed with a religious service at Noon. The family is requesting to honor Selma’s creative fashion style by wearing floral prints or happy colors and to avoid the “all” black or white outfits.
