

She was a 1952 graduate of Sarasota High School and kept up with classmates with an alumni group called the Seahorse Club. She attended Tampa Business College and became an accountant and co-owner of her family business, Campbell Motors. The Campbell family was in the automotive business in Sarasota and Venice for 45 years. She was married to Jim Hampton for 48 years until his death in 2001. She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church and later attended Sarasota Baptist Church.
Thelma was a lover of interior decorating, sewing, and home projects. She and Jim had a small ranch on Fruitville Rd. where they had gardens and tended cattle. She loved cats and had many over the years including Toots, Dude and Tidbit. She loved her family and kept up with news and happenings with all of her extended family.
After Jim's death, Thelma moved to Lakeridge Falls and had a vibrant social life with friends and neighbors. She was still active in the Seahorse Club until her health declined. She also loved traveling and going on cruises with her beloved companion Harold until his death in 2014.
Thelma was survived by her loving son, Brad Hampton, and granddaughter Jaime, along with a sister-in-law, Kathleen Parrish, and many nieces and nephews including Jean Patton, Jeff Stephens, Kevin Campbell, Colin Campbell, Pam Parrish, and Randy Beam. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents Grady and Octavia Campbell, brothers Ralph and Edsel Campbell, sister-in-law Peggy Campbell, sister Rita and brother-in-law Claude Stephens, and companion Harold Hunter.
