

Thomas Coundit was born to Elizabeth and Norman Coundit in Bordentown, New Jersey. Tom attended Cornell University majoring in Mechanical Engineering and rowed on the heavyweight crew team. Tom transferred to the University of Miami where he was President of his fraternity, played football, made the Dean's list, was an Omega Honorary, and earned degrees in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration and a Master's in Business Administration. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Army and served two years during the Vietnam conflict and resigned as a Captain. He was employed by Kodak and became head of Information Systems designing systems for the courts and police of Rochester, NY. Intrigued by the law, Tom attended Buffalo Law School and obtained his J.D. in 1979. He moved to Sarasota and worked with the Airport Authority implementing the Noise Abatement Program. Tom was an avid golfer, tennis player, Vice President of the Meadows Community Association, and President for ten years of the local Chaine des Rotisseurs., a gastronomic society. Tom's greatest passion was collector cars of which he had 26. He will be greatly missed by his loving fiancee, Lee Kotwicki, and many friends.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, followed by a funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital or Baby Basics.
