Formally from Boston, MA. Bill leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Gincauskis) Freel, 10 children, 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and his faithful companion, Leo the dog.
Bill retired after 30 years from State Street as a Senior Systems Analyst. Bill and Pat were frequent travelers, from exploring throughout the US in their RV to relaxing cruises all over Europe and the Caribbean.
During his earlier years, while attending Quincy High School, Bill was a track star whose record was not surpassed for many years. His passion encouraged his own family members to enjoy the sport.
He had many unbelievable stories from his time in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the Green Berets, while stationed in Lebanon and Germany. These stories also inspired three of his own children to enlist in the US Forces. He was proud to be an American.
Bill was fascinated with all things science fiction and science fact which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed square dancing with his wife and partook in golfing with friends and family.
His greatest achievement, in his family’s eyes, was instilling a thirst for knowledge and exploration.
He will be missed by friends and family alike.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Incarnation Catholic Church Sarasota, FL.
A 1:30 pm committal service will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.
