

Born September 26, 1924 in Phoenix, IL, he was the son of the late Joe and Salomea (nee Chudyba) Golab. Edward proudly served his country in the Army during WWII and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Returning home, he worked as a Machinist for G & W Electric and retired after 30 + years of service. An active man, Edward loved fishing, bowling and mushroom hunting. An avid golfer, he teed off 3 times a week until he was 82 and created the hobby of “ball hocking” along the side of fairways. He also enjoyed travel, visiting Europe, Canada, the West and East Coasts, and golfed everywhere in between. His presence will be missed and his memory cherished by all who knew and loved Edward.
Surviving to mourn his passing are five devoted children: Susan (Michael Gollner) Golab of Griffith, IN, Steven (Jackie) Golab of Appleton, WI, Dawn (Dylan) Grant of Hammond, IN, Kevin (Sheryl) Golab of Cedar Lake, IN and Julie (Rick) Barker of Highland, IN; five cherished grandchildren: Shaina, Alexandria, ToriAnn, Maxwell and Ryan; his special friend Jackie Garwood of Dyer, IN; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Waiting to greet him in Heaven are his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
The family invites relatives and friends to visit Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 S. Cline Ave. (1/2 mile S of US 30), Schererville, IN on Thursday, March 11th from 4-8 pm. A service to celebrate his life will take place in the funeral home on Friday, March 12th at 1 pm with Pastor Michael Smith officiating.
