

Amelia Nelson, widow of Norman Nelson, passed away on October 26, 2010. She was born in Syracuse, New York on November 30, 1921, and was the daughter of Philip and Florence Parybus. A pioneer in women's radio broadcasting during the 1940's, Amelia enjoyed a successful career at WAGE in Syracuse before deciding to stay home to raise her children. Later in life she worked for the Xerox Corporation in Webster, New York where the family settled. Before moving to Scottsdale, she and her husband resided in Winter Springs Florida. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Amelia loved her family immeasurably. She had a great capacity for compassion and patience and was a perpetual optimist. She is survived by her daughters, Ingrid Lee and her husband Charles of Flagstaff, AZ; Kristie Bradner and her husband Greg of Hampton, VA; and Karin Cumming and her husband Fred of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brett, Caroline and Christina Cummings; Jessica and Aaron Bradner; and Megan Bradner Wilson. A memorial service for Amelia will take place at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 5538 East Lafayette Boulevard, Phoenix, Arizona 85018. Memorials may be made in her name to the Desert Mission, 2500 W. Utopia Road, Suite 100, Phoenix, Arizona 85027-9828 are appreciated.
