Sunday, November 15, 2015 after a nearly five year struggle to regain her health following an
accident in which she suffered a broken neck. The younger of two sisters, she was born in Brooklyn,
NY to Vincent and Eleanor Palumbo Mandala who were Ellis Island Italian immigrants. After moving
to Norwalk, Anna graduated as valedictorian of Norwalk High School. She then attended Southern
Connecticut State University and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in elementary education. She taught
first grade in Connecticut, and, in later years , worked as a librarian in Scottsdale, AZ. Anna had
several other talents such as tending a beautiful rose garden, interior decorating, and cooking delicious
Italian-style meals during holidays. She was one smart lady who enjoyed wise sayings, such as, "When
things go wrong...don't go with them" and "Success stops when you do". She also loved traveling with
her family. While still in high school, Anna met the love of her life, husband, Edward Richard Fleetwood.
He is a Korean War air force veteran and retired accountant/financial planner. They married in 1958 and
were together for 57 years. Ed and Anna have three beautiful children: Jeffrey, Scott, and Lori. Anna was
a loving wife, devoted mother, and a doting grandmother to Scott, and his wife, Lesa's daughter, Shea.
She is survived by everyone named here and words cannot express how profoundly she will be missed.
