She was born in Barbados, West Indies, on June 1, 1943, and graduated from Queen's College.She married Charles Gianetto in Barbados before moving to the United States. Together, they had two daughters. Barbara was married twice additionally, to Charles Hyder and to William Steytler. She is preceded by both Gianetto and Steytler.
Barbara spent most of her years as a homemaker before turning to nursing for assisted living facilities and then retiring. She had a passion for music and loved dancing to her Calypso records.
She is survived by: Her daughters, Liza and Sarah Gianetto; Her grandchildren, Nikki Pantoja, and Justin and Derrick Tesson; Her great-grandchild, Isaac Pantoja; Her brothers, John and Robert Brooker; Her sister, Sandra Kinch; and her mother, Gwendolyn Brooker.
Funeral services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery on Friday, December 4, at 2pm.
