

Betty Newkirk Massey passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home at Morningstar of Arcadia, Phoenix, Arizona, at age 95. She was the daughter of the late Clay McTyre Newkirk and Florence Marene Roberts. Betty was born August 18, 1930, in Lexington, Kentucky. She later lived in Nashville, Tennessee, where she met Lester C. Massey Jr., her husband for over 50 years. She moved with Lester and their family to Huntsville, Alabama, and then to Phoenix in 1963. Betty was active at the Camelback Church of Christ in Phoenix, where she taught Bible school, Ladies Bible class, and was active in all church activities. She was a devoted wife and a loving and attentive mother who cared deeply for her children. She will be remembered especially for her brilliant and enduring sense of humor, which she passed on to all her children. Betty was survived by her daughter Dawn Gregson of Mesa, Mark Massey of Michigan, Daniel Massey of Houston, and Jonathan Massey of Phoenix. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her sister, Rozena Reams of Nashville, Tennessee. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a contribution may be forwarded to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00pm at Camelback Church of Christ, 5225 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.
