I will miss that Girl, Carmen! She was the sweetest, kindest, and funniest lady! We were "bestest" friends (as we referred to ourselves!) for 58 years. 

Carmen was one of the most intelligent and creative people that one could ever meet.  She could fix anything, could figure anything out, and knew everything about everything! She never met a stranger. She could not do enough for others. She was always doing and always giving to someone, something, or some cause. She loved the holidays, all of them! She would start planning, shopping, and preparing early to make sure everything was just right.  She loved cooking healthy and organic food. She loved making crafts. She loved fishing. She loved swimming and water sports. She loved shopping Temu! She loved art, music, theater, travel, and the finer things of life. She was proud to be a military veteran. She loved her community. She loved life.

Carmen loved her family the most..her dear husband and friend, Ricky; her daughter Malika; her grandchildren; her brother Nathaniel; and many relatives. She loved her friends and her fur babies, of course! 

When life was challenging, as it gets for all of us, she didn't complain. She would get up, fix her beautiful face, wrap her wonderful mane of hair, put on a cute outfit, and keep it moving. She was real, resilient, and ready for the next challenge. 

This photo is of us this past June. I visited her in Maricopa and she made everything perfect, as usual! She was a wonderful host. This was the last time we hugged, laughed, and spent time together. We spent it just as we did in California...laughing in the sunshine! What an honor to have known her as Friend.

I will miss that Girl, Carmen! She was the sweetest, kindest lady! We were "bestest" friends (as we referred to one another!) for 58 years. We have had some good times over the decades.  She was one of the most intelligent and creative people one could ever know.  She could not do enough for others. She was always doing and always giving to someone, something, or some cause. She was a proud military veteran. She loved her family...her husband and friend, Ricky; her daughter Malika; her grandchildren, her brother Nathaniel, and many relatives. She loved her friends and of course her fur babies! She loved cooking healthy, organic food from scratch; she loved making crafts, fishing, and shopping Temu! She loved art, music, theater,  travel, and the finer things of life. When life was challenging, as it is for everyone, she did not complain. She got up, fixed her beautiful face, wrapped her wonderful mane of hair, put on a cute outfit and kept it moving! She always made me laugh, even when I tried not to! She would have me crying laughing! The kind of laugh that makes your cheeks and head hurt! She was so much fun.  This photo is of us in June. I visited her in Maricopa and she made everything perfect. It was the last time we laughed, hugged, and spent time together.  We spent it just like we did growing up in California...laughing in the sunshine. What an honor to have known her as Friend.

Carmen was like a second mama while I was in highschool with Malikha! I have nothing but the best fun memories of her and she helped make my highschool years memorable, as I found myself at their home often!! Over the years we kept in touch via fb, her kind heart, and warm personality will be missed!! 🕊️

I met Carmen in La Selva Beach, circa 1972ish. My sister's friend from up the street. We were all latchkey kids before the internet and cell phones. We created games and played without supervision. Fun and Free we were. I am so heartsick to hear of Carmen's passing. Too young. Too Cool. I know she lives on in all her family and those that knew and loved her. ~Walter V. Moody

Carmen and I loved to laugh! We would talk for 3 hours at a time and while we were talking we would get on FB Messenger and turn on the video function with filters. We laughed so hard we cried!
