

David, was born in Los Angeles, California. His parents moved to Mesa, Arizona shortly after he was born because his grandparents acquired the Mesa Tribune. Throughout the years, David, learned the ropes of running a newspaper. He started out as a paperboy in his younger years and worked his way up to become a publisher of the Poway News Chieftain, Rancho Bernardo News Journal and Penasquitos News in 1983. This is when David, his former wife Debbie and 3 daughters, Aimee, Katie and Krissy, moved to Poway, California. In 1992, David, purchased the papers from his father, Richard Ward Calvert and remained publisher until he sold it in 2008. Once retired, he decided to move back to Arizona to be closer to his three girls and family.
David, loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, Lake Powell, the sand dunes, fishing and hiking. He had his pilot license and enjoyed flying his Cessna airplane. David also had an amazing green thumb. Taking care of his yard was one of his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his three daughters Aimee Randall, Katie Calvert, and Kristin Cooley; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Trisha Duley and Vicki Reinke.
His Celebration of Life and Reception will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00am at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery: 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
