Eugene Senjamin, 59, passed through this life on 12/30/15, after succumbing to a life well-lived in a body ill-equipped to handle it. Gene was born in Chicago, lived in Oregon and Georgia, and moved to AZ in 1991, where he was a stay-at-home dad before working in the antiques business. He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Fancy, cherished daughter, Willow, loving brother, Gary, beloved mother, Irene, and many family members in Chicago and beyond. He was welcomed on the other side by his father, Philip, brother Mark (Auntie Mame), many aunts, uncles, friends and pets.
Gene was a good friend, indulgent father, lover of music, travel and thrifting. The cross-country adventure to Alaska with Mark and friends remained a highlight in his life, even after 40 years. The generosity he experienced from strangers while on the road, along with a supportive and loving family, cultivated his willingness to give freely to anyone that asked. Although in poor health due to kidney disease, he enjoyed working at the Antique Trove in Scottsdale, where he fostered many close and loving friendships; he loved what he did and worked up until his very last days. Gene will always be remembered for his compassionate nature, eternal happiness, joyful spirit, and comforting hugs. Thank you to the staff at DaVita/SW Kidney/Tempe Dialysis Center for your kindness and care. Donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund or The Sierra Club Foundation. A celebration of life is being planned; email [email protected] for info.
