With the deepest of heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Harley Clayton Lisherness, age 80, on January 7, 2022. Harley was at peace surrounded by his loving family at his home in Paradise Valley, AZ.
Harley was born on December 26, 1941, in Compton, California, to Jack and Louise Lisherness. He spent many years living in California and Arizona before eventually making Arizona his permanent home. In 1958, Harley moved from Phoenix to Tucson, AZ, where he began attending the University of Arizona. During his time in Tucson, Harley worked for roofing contractor Joe Ramirez where he would learn more and more about the roofing industry; an industry he would eventually become a pillar of. He graduated in 1962 and moved back to Phoenix. It was then that he would begin working for the family business, Roofing Wholesale Company (RWC). After the passing of his father, Harley became owner and CEO of RWC and took the business to the next level. He expanded the company to thirteen locations in four states employing hundreds of workers and serving thousands of customers.
Harley loved to travel in his free time, build model ships, and go fishing. He also loved to give back to the community. He started the Lisherness Foundation, which provides grants to local charities to help with things such as hunger, domestic abuse, and the arts. Harley’s dedication, one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and passion for continuously trying to find better ways to do things will be deeply missed.
Harley will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Heidi, his daughters, Lisa Lisherness, Lori (Eric) Risser, and his four grandchildren; Lola, Bella, Annie, and Harley.
A time of celebration of Harley's life and his achievements will be held on Monday, January 17 at 11:00 am at Green Acres Mortuary, with burial to follow at noon.
