Helena Lee Yong

Helena Lee Yong, 75, of Phoenix AZ, passed away from cardiac arrest on December 4, 2022. Helena was born May 8, 1947 to Wah Yat Lee and Puh Wah Ma in Hong Kong.

She relocated to Honolulu, HI in 1967 and served at Fat Siu Lau Chinese Restaurant and King Wah Low Dinner Theatre. After marrying Chung “David” Yong in 1975, their family made their way to Phoenix, AZ in 1978. Together, they owned and operated a small grocery store named C & H Grocery from 1980-1999.

During her retirement years, Helena made numerous trips throughout Asia and sailed on multiple cruises in the Pacific. When she wasn’t traveling, her favorite pastimes included playing slot machines at nearby casinos and playing cards poolside with a wonderful group of ladies while sharing stories about their families. Food was her language of love, cooking for friends and family not only to feed them but to also share her heritage. Helena will be greatly missed by all, but her legacy will remain strong in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband, Chung Yong, sons Daniel, James, John, Edward, and grandchildren Preston, Samantha, Braydon, Kyra, and Makena.

A visitation for Helena will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at 2107 - Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 10:00 AM at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257.
