Born in Adamsville, West Virginia
Passed away in Scottsdale after a long illness.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Sr. and Goldie Grace Southern, as well as 6 brothers and sisters.
Survived by his wife of 29 years, Donna, three children, two step-children, and numerous grand and great grand children. He is also survived by his brother, Edgar, of Clarksburg, WV.
Hugh came to the Valley as a young man and realized his dream of becoming a business owner with the purchase of Arizona Bakery Sales, which he built into a successful, thriving company. He retired in 1991.
As owner of Southern Racing Stables, Hugh was a successful thoroughbred racehorse owner, breeder and trainer for more than 50 years.
Hugh had a strong faith in God and was a member of North Bible Church.
Interment was at Green Acres Cemetery on November 3, 2016.
