
76, died on Nov. 9, 2013 at Serenity Hospice in Phoenix, AZ. The cause of death was heart failure due to complications from diabetes and congestive heart failure.
Jim was born in Albany, NY on April 30, 1937, to Josephine and William Larkin. He spent his childhood in a small town called Poultney, VT.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Jim then joined the Marine Corps for 61/2 years. After the military service, he followed doctor’s advice and moved to AZ in 1978. In 1983, he joined the Postal Service in Phoenix as a mail handler. He also met his wife of 26 years, Sandy, at the post office. Jim retired from government work in 1998 with 25 years of service.
Jim loved Arizona and the desert. One of his favorite pastimes was camping out in his motorhome with his 3 dogs and wife, Sandy. When his health became too bad, he spent his time reading and watching old movies and the history channel.
Survivors are his wife, Sandy of Scottsdale; son, Jay of Alexandria, VA; sister, Maureen of Albany, NY and Gayle of Connecticut, and several nieces and nephews. Jim’s parents and one sister, Kathy, are deceased.
