It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Patzer on December 9, 2015. He was at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Kenneth was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on February 29, 1936. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; his sons Gerry and Thomas Huerta; daughters Deborah Scott and Carol Dean; his grandchildren Carissa, Shannon, Brendan, Colin, Alex, Chelsea and Emily; and his great grandchildren Landon and Lily.
A service will be held on March 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm to celebrate his 80th birthday with a small luncheon to follow. It will be at Gethsemane Lutheran Church 1035 E. Guadalupe Road, Tempe, AZ. 85283. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Instead, a coin jar will be present at the celebration and we ask that you place a few coins in it. This was a silly habit that we as a family get great joy from when we share our stories of him finding pennies. For those who knew Ken well knows he enjoyed chatting with everyone when he was out and about. He will be missed and we know that his loss will be felt by many.Kenneth was a proud Marine and he enjoyed teasing both his children and grandchildren with his troop commands. He loved to shop which gave him the opportunity to talk to so many people. His singing of his favorite crooners of the ’40s and the ’50s will never be forgotten every time his family hears a Nat King Cole song. He has passed on his talents and his wisdom to us all, and none of us will ever move a piece of furniture without saying "Watch The Walls!" A private ceremony for the family was held on December 21, 2015 at Green Acres Cemetery where he was laid to rest with the presence of the United States Marine Corps presenting him with military honors.
