

He was born in Harrisburg, Ill. 3/19/1940 to Virginia Melton Darnell & Mack Darnell.
Mack earned his AA degree from Maricopa Tech.
He was married to Roxane Terry 12/2/1978 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Mack served 4 years in the US Navy primarily as a machinists’ mate aboard the USS Everglades.
After discharge he returned to the Midwest but soon sought employment where there was “NO SNOW”! He responded to an ad for aerospace machinists in Phoenix, AZ.
Mack had a career in aerospace manufacturing for over 30 years with AiResearch/Honeywell, beginning as a machinist and ending as a manufacturing manager.
He was a member of the Chandler Sheriff’s Posse.
He had many diverse interests. Active in amateur rodeo sports like calf roping and team roping, he earned many awards including “All Around Cowboy”, saddles and belt buckles.
Deep sea fishing captured his interest, and he spent many leisure hours on the sea of Cortez in Mexico.
He had learned to play golf in his youth with his father, and that became a regular past time after his retirement.
He is predeceased by his parents, Virginia & Mack Darnell Sr., daughters DeAnna Bowsher & Sabrina Backus, grandson Nickolas Gartner.
He is survived by wife Roxane Darnell, sister Sue Simanson, children Scott Darnell, Angie Darnell, Monica Onarheim, Erron Terry, grandchildren Tanya Gartner, Brandon Rowe, Travis Rowe, Dana Terry, Gwyn Terry, Kaitlyn Backus, Austin Onarheim, Dylan Onarheim, great grandchildren Jady Gartner, Casey Gartner, Jaycee Holder, Sabrina Onarheim and many great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for family only will be held at Green Acres 1/10/2025 at 10:00am.

Daughter Monica Onarheim and grandson Dylan Onarheim will be doing the 3-Day 60 mile walk for breast cancer in honor of Deanna, Sabrina and other victims of breast cancer.
