

Mary was born at the family farmhouse in Crystal Township, Iowa on May 27, 1928 to parents Nora (Muirhead) Westfall and George Carroll Westfall. She attended high school in Toledo, IA.
Mary met her future husband, James Eakins Singleton, while attending college at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. They were married on August 20, 1949.
Mary was a devoted mother and wife, serving as a pastor's wife in the churches to which her husband was called to minister. In 1969, they were called to move to Arizona to start up a new church. Tri-City Baptist Church was originally located in Tempe and later relocated to Chandler. James served as senior pastor for 30 years before stepping down. Over the years they had many opportunities to travel abroad to visit missionaries.
Mary enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, sewing and quilt making. She also played piano and sang in the church choir. She also had a love of acting and performed in both school and church plays over the years.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, four siblings (George Westfall Jr, Richard Westfall, Raymond Westfall and Paul Westfall) and her husband James.
She is survived by her son Stephen Alan Singleton (Tamara) of Lakewood, WA and daughter Susan Elizabeth Haverstrom (Charles) of Queen Creek, AZ. Also grandchildren Lindsey Michelle Singleton, James Garrett Singleton, Christopher Jon Haverstrom (Lisa), and Nicholas James Haverstrom (Cory) and several great grandchildren.
Mary will be laid to rest at Green Acres cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ. There will be a Memorial service held at Tri-City Baptist Church, 2211 W Germann Rd, Chandler, AZ on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 6:00pm. Memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to Tri-City Baptist Church.
