

Raymond Lee Parsons, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away at the age of 102, on Friday, June 3, 2022 in his home of 62 years and by the side of his loving wife, Michele M. Parsons. Ray was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1920, to Edith Parsons and Russell Clapsaddle. After graduating from high school, he went on to work as a proofreader and print setup at Westminster Press in Philadelphia, until his enlistment in the United States Army.
During WWII he was stationed in the Philippines and later in Paris, France, where he met his wife. He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant, after 20 years of service. Ray enjoyed a second career following his love of the English language and the newspaper printing process, by becoming a proofreader at The Arizona Republic, and retiring as the proof room manager in 1982.
Ray was an avid animal lover and rescued many dogs over the years. He was also a devout Protestant and served others by supporting several orphans and refugees from Korea over the years.
Ray is survived by his spouse, Michele Marie Parsons, his daughter, Dominique Dancause, grandchildren Heather Hill, Adam Callebaut and Stephanie Marsh.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm at the Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd, Scottsdale followed by an honor guard salute at the graveside. Donations to the Arizona Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
