Born on October 16th, 1923 and passed away surrounded by his loving family October 11th, 2010.
Some people can light up a room just by walking in. Bob Korljan was that rare person. His laugh was loud and infectious. He loved life, and brought great joy to family, friends and the patients he treated for 45 years.
He was born in Gradac, Croatia, already an American citizen because his father served in the U.S. Army in World War I. His parents immigrated to America in 1925 and settled in California. His father died when Bob was 15 and his brother Ralph 13. The family was poor but very close. Bob served in the Navy during WW II and went to college on the G.I. Bill. Both he and his brother became doctors against all odds. He met Jeanne Gale in Chiropractic school and they moved to Arizona in 1947. They had two children together, Bonnie and Bob, before divorcing in 1959.
He opened Phoenix Diagnostic clinic and practiced for 45 years before retiring at age 70. In 1966 Bob married Joan, and became step-father to her two children, Debi and Jeff. They have been happily married for 44 years.
Bob played tennis and sang opera in High School. He played golf throughout his life. He became a grand master chess player and excellent poker player.
He is survived by his wife Joan, four children and their spouses, Bob and Ginger Korljan, Bonnie and Bill Rabe, Debi and Vaughn Wesson, and Jeff Graham. Grandchildren Neil, Casey, Scott, Megan, Heather, Lisa, Dawn, Kristine, and their respective spouses. Great grand children Conner, Emma and Aiden. Niece and nephew Ric and Kim Korljan and sister in law Jan Korljan.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, friend and healer. He touched everyone he knew. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He had the biggest heart and a loving disposition. His laugh and sunny nature will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
We love and miss you so much. We will carry you in our hearts always.
Services will be held Sunday October 17th at 2pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Reception to follow.
