Roberta “Berta” passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 14, 2017. Born in Oklahoma, she travelled to Arizona with her parents and 8 siblings when she was 10. She attended Phoenix Union High where she lettered in rifle and participated in the “Masque of the Yellow Moon” festival. She graduated from Phoenix College where she was a member of Mensa. Roberta had a remarkable career in banking, including becoming the first female VP at the Arizona Bank. She was known for her quick wit and she enjoyed socializing whether playing golf or cards, or spending time at “the cabin” at Lake Montezuma and traveling abroad. Roberta shared 32 years of marriage with Arnold “Bud” Shuman. She is survived by two sons, Dennis and Jim, daughters–in-law Missy and Barbara, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a special niece, Sandy, all of whom will miss her dearly. Remembrances in her name to Hospice or a charity of choice would be valued.
