Sandra Faith Indes

Born in Chicago, Illinois she was the daughter of the late Herbert (Hy) Burland and Gertrude Schweit Burland. She attended Von Steuben and Roosevelt high schools. In 1978 she relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona with her 2 children, Maura and Matthew. Sandra earned her Bachelor’s degree in counseling from Prescott College and her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership From Northern Arizona University. Before retirement, Sandra was a counselor and coordinator of women’s programs for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. One of her greatest accomplishments at the Sherriff’s Department was developing and bringing into the Jails a unique program called Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, reuniting young girls with their incarcerated mothers. Sandra was an excellent astrologer and also wrote and self-published a book called Sexy Signs of the Zodiac. She loved music and loved to dance. Sandra was chosen in the 1950s to be one of the first playboy models for her Beautiful looks and her piercing blue eyes. She was so proud of and dearly loved her grandchildren. Thank You for tolerating Matthew playing the drums in the house because of that he became a successful musician. Thank you for letting me give you interesting haircuts and color while I was in beauty school. You were our biggest fan and cheerleader. We love you Mom and miss you!

Sandra is survived by Daughter Maura Indes (Tom Adam) Son Matthew Indes( Margo Indes) grandchildren Gabriel Adam and Tommy Adam. Siblings Arlene Barewin (Bob Barewin) and Larry Burland (Helen Burland) Nephew Jeremy Barewin nieces Lesley Barewin, Jennifer Burland.

Services will be held at Green Acres Cemetary 401 N hayden rd, Scottsdale at 1:00 PM on Wednesday Jan 6. In Lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter.
