

Thomas George Steckhahn was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 18th, 1943, the oldest of two children. Tom graduated from high school in 1960 and studied to become a barber. He worked cutting hair before joining the Air Force in 1963, serving in Thailand as mechanical support for jet fighters that provided close air support in Vietnam. Tom later joined the Arizona National Guard and retired after 20 years of service.
Tom developed a passion for fishing at an early age and used that passion to enjoy many fishing trips. He also developed a talent for wood-working and was a proud member of the Prescott Area Woodturners Club.
Tom was an active member and volunteer in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, where he coordinated the Sacred Heard bi-annual blood drive for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Tom met the love of his life and partner, Charlene, in 1976 while they both worked for the City of Scottsdale. Tom and Charlene were married for 35 years. Charlene preceded Tom in death in 2015.
Tom was an engaging person who got along with everyone and made many lasting friends. He’s especially remembered for his kindness and interest in others.
Tom is survived by his younger sister, Marianne Feltes (Mike), and nieces Michelle, Kaylynne and Karianne, and stepson, Ted Simons (Barbara).
A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, with a catered reception to follow.
