Viola J. DeKruif, 90, formerly of Leota and Luverne, died on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Caliche Senior Living in Casa Grande, AZ. She was born March 13, 1935, near Leota, MN, to Alfred and Jeanette (Schaap) DeJager.
Viola married John DeKruif, Jr., on November 22, 1955. The couple lived in Luverne for a short time before they moved to Tempe, AZ, in 1967.
Viola loved playing hymns on her piano and enjoyed playing cards with friends and relatives. She was very organized and always kept her house spic and span. She loved children and enjoyed and cherished being around her children and grandchildren.
Viola is survived by her two children, Jeff (Julie) DeKruif, Centennial, CO, and Cindy (David) DeJong, Casa Grande, AZ; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John DeKruif, Jr., her parents; and her three brothers, Clarence, Clifford, and John.
A visitation will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, 85257, on September 27, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
The funeral service, followed by a reception, will take place at the same venue on September 27, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
A graveside service will directly follow the reception at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Michael DeKruif, Zachary DeKruif, Andrew DeKruif, Matthew DeKruif, Joshua DeJong, Josiah Peterson, Chad Balakian, and Elijah Meyer.
