Alice was born in Niobrara, Nebraska on November 7, 1918, and died in Bellevue, Washington on June 15, 2016. Her family lived for a time in Killam, Alberta, Canada, where her younger brother, Jack, was born. Jack says that Alice wanted to be his baby sitter, so in 1928, their father built a wagon and she’d proudly cart Jack all around Killam!
Back in Niobrara in 1933, Alice met the love of her life, Clement Brewer. They dated until she became his bride on May 30, 1939. Her husband of 70 years preceded her in death on June 4, 2009.
During summer vacations, Alice and Clem would visit family in Seattle, and moved to this area in 1956. She liked camping, fishing, and dancing as hobbies, and was employed at Seattle’s Louisa Boren School.
Alice enjoyed hosting family and friends at the home she shared with Clem, where she made certain everyone was comfortable and had plenty to eat. If you invited the Brewers to dinner, you had to make it absolutely clear to Alice that she was a guest and should not prepare and bring the meal! She was kind-hearted and genuinely cared about others.
Survivors include her brothers Jack Hagedorn and Jim Hagedorn (Barbara); sons Jim and Bruce (Brenda); four grandchildren, Jim Jr. (Lisa), Polly Johnson (Scott), Eddy, and Marcy; three great-grandchildren, Bree, Colin, Parker; one great-great grandchild, Cooper; and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded death by her husband Clem, brother, Wayne, and sisters Thelma and Betty.
