On July 4th, 2024, Bradley Henderson Bartlett (35), his wife Alexandra Nicole Bartlett (31), and their two daughters, Scarlett Elizabeth Lynn Bartlett (9) and Violet Clara Eloise Bartlett (1 month) passed away in a tragic car accident on their way to a cabin in Southern Washington to enjoy the long weekend. A gift from God, they are survived by their 2 year old son Grant Alexander Bartlett who had only minor injuries and is doing well. It is so evident how much Grant was loved and cherished as he plays with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles, handing out hugs to everyone.
In addition to his son, Brad is survived by his parents Don and Carole Bartlett, brother Jason Bartlett and his wife Lauren, brother Colin Bartlett, and grandmothers Sharon Priegel and Helen Bartlett. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Priegel and Don Bartlett Sr.
Brad was born in El Paso, Texas on March 19, 1989. He moved to Federal Way, Washington in time for high school and graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Thomas Jefferson High School in 2007.
A natural-born lawyer, Brad was a gifted writer and loved to make his case, which landed him at Cornell University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and graduated summa cum laude with distinction in all subjects. He went on to attend Notre Dame and Cornell Law Schools, graduating from Cornell with a J.D. in 2014. Brad became more involved in his Catholic faith during his time in college, and became a confirmed Catholic while he was a student at Cornell.
Brad dedicated his law career to public service and making a difference in his community as a prosecuting attorney. He had positions in private law firms, but he had a passion for public service that led him to serve as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in New Mexico, a Prosecuting Attorney for the State of New Mexico, and a Prosecuting Attorney in Snohomish County and Benton County, Washington.
Brad loved music, and played guitar and had a classic garage band when he was in high school. He also played trombone in high school marching and jazz bands, and when he arrived at Cornell University was quickly recruited by overzealous marching band members, and had his parents ship him his trombone immediately so he could join. Brad always cherished his time in the Big Red Bands and all the lifetime friends he made. Brad's friends saw him as someone who was always there for them.
He loved cooking, travel, art, and the outdoors. He backpacked and hiked in the mountains from an early age, summiting Mt. Whitney and Mt. Adams with his father. He always had a strong drive to “make the summit” and to see what was over the next ridge or in the next town.
Brad was a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly. He met Alexandra Richards, the love of his life, in Las Cruces, New Mexico and they later moved to Bothell, Washington where they were married. He cherished his time with his children, taking them on camping trips, beach hikes, or to a local event almost every weekend.
Bradley, Alexandra, Scarlett, and Violet were laid to rest during a small memorial service at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle, Washington on August 2nd, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
