Cecilia Ann Contreras, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Her life was defined by devotion—to her family, her community, and the cultural traditions she cherished.
Born on February 24, 1944, in San Francisco, Cecilia grew up surrounded by the love of her parents, Larry Vincent Razura and Maia Saucedo, her stepfather John V. Armenta, and her siblings. She carried fond memories of childhood adventures shared with her brother Larry A. Razura and her sisters, Theresa Dye and Susan McMillen. Those early bonds shaped her lifelong commitment to family and connection.
In 1964, Cecilia married the love of her life, Santiago “Jim” Contreras, while living in Spain. Their partnership was one of deep affection, resilience, and shared purpose. Together they raised three sons—James “Joey” Contreras (Kait Kilerin), Michael Contreras (Stephanie Ortiz), and Daniel Contreras (Andrea Howarth)—who were the pride of her life. Cecilia and Jim built a home filled with warmth, humor, and unwavering support. Jim preceded her in death in 2023, and their reunion now brings comfort to those who loved them both.
Cecilia dedicated much of her professional life to public service, working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and later the Environmental Protection Agency. She approached her work with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility, retiring in the early 2000s after a meaningful and impactful career.
Her greatest joy came from being a Nana to her three grandsons—Ryan, Cameron, and Luke. She poured her heart into every moment spent with them. Whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, or simply being present, she created memories they will carry forever.
Cecilia also gave generously to her community. She was an active and passionate Board Member for Bailadores de Bronce, the Seattle-based Mexican folklórico dance organization. Her dedication helped preserve and celebrate cultural heritage, and she formed lasting friendships within the group.
Known affectionately as CeCe and Chell, Cecilia touched countless lives with her kindness, humor, and gentle strength. She will be deeply missed by her family, her many friends, and the extended community who were fortunate to know her.
Cecilia is preceded in death by her husband, Santiago “Jim” Contreras; her parents, Larry Vincent Razura and Maia Saucedo; her stepfather, John V. Armenta; and her brother, Larry A. Razura. She is survived by her sons Joey, Michael, and Daniel; her daughters-in-law; her grandsons; her sisters Theresa and Susan; and a wide circle of relatives and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
