Dave grew up in Walla Walla and attended Whitman College for three years. He then moved to Boston where he received his degree in Creative Writing from Emerson College. After a number of years working in the bio-tech industry, Dave left the field to pursue his dream of writing. His coming-of-age first novel was near completion at the time of his passing. Within his writing community, he is remembered for his sharp humor, generosity and gift of storytelling.
A caring friend and neighbor, Dave was always there to lend an ear or a helping hand. He enjoyed BBQs with friends, summer concerts and discovering great books and films. He was passionate about current events and always willing to support a good cause.
Dave’s biggest source of pride were his two children, Sam (14) and Natalie (12). He was an involved father and familiar face in the schools his children attended; volunteering in the classrooms, chaperoning field trips and spending many hours assisting students in the school reading lab. Parents, teachers and students will miss Dave’s warm smile and ready laugh.
As well as the many friends who were lucky enough to know him, Dave leaves behind his wife, Cheryl, his two children, his mother, a brother and two sisters.
We will celebrate his life, and all that he meant to us at a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, October 13th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM . We hope you can attend. To receive information regarding service location and driving directions, please email: [email protected]
