Dean had three passions in his life: God, family, and country. He served God with a ready smile through singing in the adult choir, helping teach children's choir, serving on the technical crew, and through Bible Study Fellowship.
His love for his family was evident by the pictures on the walls of his offices at home and at work. He helped lead his sons' Camp Fire group and spent ten summers at Blyth Park Day Camp on staff and as Camp Director with all his children on staff. Truly a family endeavor. Dean was always ready with the latest story, bragging about his children Amanda, Ryan, and Carl, or tales of the trips he and Karen had taken. His family will miss his smile and his laugh, and the love with which he surrounded us all!
His love of country began with his parents Shirley and Gene, the latter of whom was a Master Sargent in the Air Force. It continued on to Washington State University and Seattle University where he commanded the Colonial Guard Drill Team in 1976 during the celebration of that anniversary.
His interest in computers began at WSU with a computer filling a huge room. He worked in computer operations at Eddie Bauer, then EDS. He moved on to Group Health Cooperative where he began to learn about networking. That led to a long career at T-Mobile where he worked in Network Operations and Engineering.
Dean always had a ready smile and would introduce himself to everyone, making each one feel important. He gave of himself to all he met, worked with, and shared life with. He touched so many lives with his love and passion. He will be greatly missed.
Dean's Memorial Service will be held at St John's Episcopal Church, 105 State St S, Kirkland, WA, 98033 on Saturday, February 25 at 2pm.
