With deep sadness, we announced the passing of our mother, Glenette (Glen) Bestwick. On 20 December 2025, she passed away peacefully in hospice just days after an unexpected medical event. Mom celebrated her 102nd birthday on 12 November 2025 by enjoying her daily walk and a birthday party with family.
Glenette was born in Harborside, California on 12 November 1923 and was raised in Bozeman, Montana. Glen and her mother mostly lived on the family ranch (homestead) in a home built by her father. Her mother and father met, while he was building the home. Glen was the guest of honor at the 100th birthday of the house in 2020, which still stands much in its original form.
At the age of 18, Glenette graduated from Gallatin High school and soon after moved to Seattle. She went on to have a successful career in administration and business in both Bozeman and in Seattle before meeting the love of her life Warren W. Bestwick. They met on Valentines Day 1948 on a blind date at the Sandpoint Naval Air Station Officer’s Club. Warren and Glen were married on 11 September 1949. They were married for 69 years when Warren passed away on 18 October 2018.
Glenette and Warren raised 3 daughters. She played golf, was a watercolor painter (several of the paintings in her apartment are hers), made crafts that she sold in a gift shop in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, was active with Ryther’s Children’s Center (Ryther), was a founding member of the Assistance League of Bellingham, and belonged to Garden Clubs in both Seattle and Bellingham. Warren and Glen also loved to ballroom dance and belonged to dance clubs in both Seattle and Bellingham.
Glen actively supported Warren’s career and exquisitely entertained for both friends and business associates. For years, Warren and Glen were active with the Senior League: a close group of friends who took golfing trips together once or twice a year.
In 2004, Glen and Warren moved from Bellingham to Emerald Heights in Redmond, WA. She lived at Emerald Heights for 21-1/2 years in Independent and Assisted Living. In her 80’s Glenette, along with another Emerald Heights resident, was responsible for planning, designing, and implementing the display cases for many years.
Glenette is survived by her daughters Sharon K. Bestwick; Carol E. Bestwick (Andrea DeMuro); and Jan M. Bestwick (David Rutledge), her grandson Ron W. Bestwick (Marina Pullido), and two great grandsons.
No public service will be held. Those who wish to honor Glenette’s memory, please share a memory, or a donation to the Assistance League of Bellingham, or to Ryther in Seattle.
