Helen Elizabeth Mickelsen, born October 17, 1916 in Eureka Utah, left us peacefully on September 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard (2005), her son Steven (1978), her sister Frances Trantum(1972) and brother Bob Williamson (2009). She is survived by her daughter Elaine Scott, her granddaughters Deborah Atherly and Kimberly Crowder; grandson Mark Edwards; great grandchildren Micaela, Molly, Olivia, Cody, Kay Anna and Conner; niece Sandrea Sphar and her daughters Elisa Enns and Gina Wilkins and nephew Bret Williamson and their families. Helen graduated from the University of Washington at age 19 and married Howard in 1937. During their 67 year marriage, they commercially fished in Alaska, farmed in North Dakota, ranched in Oregon and finally back to Seattle in 1955. She was Personnel and Rehabilitation Director at Seattle Goodwill Industries for 26 years prior to her retirement in 1981. She was an accomplished painter and great cook, but most of all the loving, caring and quiet strength of our family, she will be missed by all.
Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Seattle, Washington.
