

Janet Grace Schmid passed away Oct. 1, 2014 at the age of 99, surrounded by family. Born in Moline, IL to Lester and Grace Crawford who preceded her in death along with sisters, Hazel and Marion. Janet married the first love of her life Frank Kracke and they had two children, Nancy and Tom. In 1945, they moved to Seattle where Frank later died in 1951. She met the second love of her life, Capt Wm Schmid, MD and was married in 1955. Together they traveled the world and retired to Florida. Upon his passing, Janet returned to Seattle where she became active in the Navy Officers Wives Club and formed many lasting friendships. From that group, the Stitch And Bitch Sewing Group was formed, meeting every Monday and they still do. She also was active in her church, Olympic View Community Church, where yet another group of gals formed long friendships going to movies, dinner and playing cards. Janet was a beloved wife, mother & daughter to 2 children, 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild. She is survived by daughter, Nancy (Guy) Pinkerton, son, Tom (Linda) Kracke, niece, Ann, and nephew, Tom. Service will be held at The Olympic View Community Church on Oct.26 at 1:30pm. Private graveside services were held at Acacia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to a charity of your choosing.
We will always remember her and the special memories we each carry of fun times spent together. Janet lived a good life and leaves us with her smile and grace.
