

Born August 17th, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter and Doris Higgins, he attended Roosevelt High School in the city of Wyandotte, and graduated from Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan in 1967 completing his machine tool certificate. John completed the certification of apprenticeship completion from the United States Department of Labor in 1969. Later, he received an Applied Associates Degree from Highland Park Community College and the certificate of completion to train the trainer at the Chrysler Corporation in 1993. On August 17th, 1965, he married Marilyn.
He lived in St. Joseph, Troy, and Swartz Creek in Michigan and worked at the Chrysler Corporation as a toolmaker for 31 years until he moved to Leesburg, Florida shortly after retiring in 2001.
John was a member of the Freemasons and United Auto Workers Union. He enjoyed wood/metal working, hunting, fishing, boating, golfing and being around family and friends.
John will be especially remembered for being a devoted father, hard working, considerate, sociable, caring person, and a loyal friend to many.
Survivors include his two sons, David Higgins (Reiko Higgins) in Seattle, Washington and Tom Higgins in Sunnyvale, California. John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Doris Higgins and his aunt Geraldine Foster.
Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 24th, 2014 at Forest Lawn: 6701 30th Avenue SW, Seattle, WA 98126. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend his memorial service at Forest Lawn as well as to sign the guestbook, add messages and photos, or light candles on this website.
