He loved his family more than anything else in the world…except a perfect Manhattan, a woman half his age, a Jack Reacher novel, chicken wings and the Golden State Warriors.
He was a doting grandfather to his five grandchildren, imparting some wisdom that made his daughters cringe, such as how to initiate a drag race, how to throw a punch and the importance of holding your liquor. He also offered other advice that will deeply sit with all of us forever: the healing and connective power of laughter, how to outwit your opponent in a debate, the importance of being a gentleman and how to make the person in front of you feel like the most important person in the world.
The son of Bob and Jane Lovejoy, he is survived by his two daughters, Kiran Robertson and Tracey Lovejoy, two son-in-laws, Robert Robertson and Shane Abreu, and five grandchildren, Henry, Julian, Sadie, Ellis and Ryder, who were the light of his world.
John grew up in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and UCLA Law School, then honored his longest and most cherished marriage - to the law - which he served until the day he died.
He leaves a place on this earth that will never be filled. Rest in peace, Papi.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawn-seattle.com for the LOVEJOY family.
