

In the early morning hours of November 3, Joseph L. Winchell Jr. passed away. Joe was born in Seattle on March 16, 1930 to Frances (Fisher) Winchell and Joseph L Winchell Sr. Joe joined his older brother Al and made the family complete.
Joe attended local schools graduating from Roosevelt High School.
He joined the US Army and proudly served his nation during the Korean War achieving the rank of Corporal and being certified as an amphibious vehicle driver. He was discharged in 1956.
After his service to his country, Joe returned home to Seattle where he began his career with the City of Seattle in the Parks Department and for Metro Transit retiring in 1996.
In June 1972, Joe married the love of his life, Frances Jayne Davis and joined in a ready-made family of Jeff, Rick, Cheryl, and Jack Davis. Joe and Fran enjoyed each other’s love and companionship for 34 wonderful years until her death in 2006.
Always a devoted Shriner, Joe loved the time that he spent at the Nile Temple. He was a member of the Legion of Honor Drill Team and became Commander in 1989.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Frances Winchell, his parents, his brother, and Stepson Jackie Davis.
Survivors include Jeff (Shirley) Davis, Rick (Cindy) Davis, Cheryl Tenney, Sister-in-law, Mary Lou Winchell and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Shriner’s Temple in Mountlake Terrace, WA.
