Josh was the only son of Jacqueline J. Madalinski (Jackie). Being a single mom, Jackie had help from her parents Sophie and Walter Madalinski in raising Josh. Josh grew up around his cousins Christina Graylee, Crystal Evans (Lutz), John Howard, and Walt Madalinski the third. Jackie moved in with her sister Margaret and so their children Josh and Crystal spent most of their early years in each other’s company. Crystal and Josh were as close as siblings, even though they were cousins. Josh, being the only man of the group for quite some time, always acted as a protector to those around him. He had respect and care for everyone he encountered.
In 1988 Margaret met the love of her life, Michael Ratigan, and she and Crystal moved from Texas to Washington. Because of their close relationship, Jackie and Josh followed suit just a few years later in 1990. A large part of Josh and Crystal’s childhood memories are from growing up in Washington together. In middle school Josh was very proud to be in the JROTC. He didn’t have a date to the military ball that year, so he took his cousin Crystal. At the last minute Crystal’s friend Melanie also said yes to be Josh’s date, so he took two lovely ladies to the ball! Growing up, Josh loved video games (Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, and Dance, Dance Revolution). He also loved the musical group Boys II Men and he was a huge Star Trek fan!
After Jackie passed away quite unexpectedly in 2009, Joshua’s whole world was turned upside down. He became very depressed. At the time he was living in Tacoma, WA, but he decided to move to 250 miles east to Moses Lake, WA where his best friend Joe Baker was living. Joe and Josh were often fondly referred to at Luigi and Mario (the Super Mario Brothers) because of their stature and looks, and the fact that they were always together. Joe was tall and skinny and Josh was short and stout, usually sporting the typical Mario moustache.
Josh spend many years in Moses Lake where he worked at Papa’s Casino Restaurant and Lounge. It was at Papa’s where he attained the nickname “Speedy” because he could get his job done faster than anyone. He was a very hard worker and always on top of things. He was loved and appreciated by all of his coworkers at Papa’s Casino.
Josh’s best friend Joe and their mutual friend Erin Cook introduced Josh to Danni Mack in March of 2015. After just a few dates, Josh and Danni realized they had found a special love together. They started dating on March 27, 2015 and since then Josh has acted as Danni’s protector (as he has always been so apt to do). When Josh fell ill in the summer of 2016, Danni stayed with him in the hospital every day. She took care of him and made sure he was comfortable and clean. Danni was by his side when he passed away. It is a heartbreaking story because Josh and Danni had plans to be married, and although they were not legally married, we all do consider Danni to be a member of the Madalinski family as Josh’s wife.
Joshua is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Sophie J. Madalinski and Walter J. Madalinski, his mother Jacqueline (Jackie) J. (Madalinski) Feld, and his uncle Joseph Madalinski, and most recently his cousin John Michael Howard who died just ten days before Josh died. Joshua is greatly missed by his fiancée Danni Mack, his uncle Walter J. Madalinski Jr and aunt Mary Ellen Madalinski, his aunt Margaret (Madalinski) Ratigan, his aunt Kathryn M. Howard, his cousins Crystal Lutz, Christina J. Graylee, Walt Madalinski, Matt Madalinski, Will Madalinski, Megan Madalinski, and his second cousin Dorian Graylee.
Joshua was a kind hearted soul, a hard worker, and a protector of those he cherished. He took care of others first and never let anyone know if he was hurt or needed help. Those of us whose lives he touched will always love him and always remember what a special and amazing person he was. May he rest in peace. We love you, Josh! kocham Cię
