

Mary Elizabeth (Hieber) Snook, of Redmond, Washington, passed away on May 13, 2014. Beloved second daughter of Milo and Anna (Gamber) Hieber, and baby sister to Pat, she was named after her mother’s sister and her father’s sister. Mary, born March 30, 1930, grew up on Rocky Run Farm near Mansfield, Ohio. The Hiebers owned sheep and Border Collies, and enjoyed time with their extended families in Bucyrus and Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Mary graduated from Mansfield High School, and continued on to receive a BA from Oberlin College in Ohio, and a Certificate of Physical therapy from Columbia University in New York, Phi Beta Kappa.
Mary worked at a New York City hospital as a Physical Therapist with patients with polio. One summer she bicycled throughout Europe with her sister Pat and brother-in-Law Jim. Mary was married to Alex Snook from Byfleet, England on August 5, 1967. They lived in Seattle, Washington, Tel Aviv, Israel, Wokingham, England and Kirkland and Redmond, Washington. They also travelled the world together. They were married for 42 years, before her soul mate, Alex, passed away in 2010.
Mary worked as Chief Physical therapist at University Hospital in Seattle, Washington for many years, and later worked as a PT for Eastside Group Health. Mary’s pastimes include swimming, sewing, cooking, gardening, reading, music and spending time with family and friends. She was well loved by her extended family that enjoyed visiting them in Israel, England and America. Mary is survived by nieces and nephews, great-nieces and –nephews, and great-great nieces and –nephews in England, and America, from the Bradley, Hemmings, Griggs, O’Brien and Seidl families.
