Mudau was born in 1947 in Tianjin, China, to Shih Chun Chu and Meijiang Chu. Before his first birthday, he moved with his parents to Taiwan, where he grew up as the eldest brother to Nancy and Peter. He was a dedicated student and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Chinese Culture University. After graduation, he briefly taught high school mathematics and worked as an Engineer at Hsin-Ying Paper Mill, Taiwan Polychem, and Asia Polymer.
At the age of 31, Mudau was recruited to Thailand, where he served as Technical Manager at a petrochemical company. During his five years there, he successfully helped establish Thailand’s first petrochemical raw materials plant. In 1984, after marrying, he and his wife Wenjiuan moved to the United States to pursue further studies.
Following his passion for engineering, Mudau earned his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University (BYU) in under two years. During this time, the couple welcomed their son, Nelson. After graduation, Mudau worked as a Process Engineer in major pharmaceutical and process design companies, including Merck and Baxter. His daughter, Justine, was born during this chapter of life.
A devout Christian since high school, Mudau dedicated his life to his faith and to the pursuit of truth. For 33 years, he faithfully served the Christian Testimony - Morris Church in New Jersey. In 2021, he and his family moved to Seattle, where he continued to live a life of daily devotion and spiritual discipline while attending Seattle Christian Assembly.
In family life, Mudau was a firm and principled father in his children’s younger years, teaching them that knowing God is life’s highest priority. As his children grew older, he became a warm and gentle father, and in 2024, he embraced the joy of becoming a grandfather for two grandchildren—one of his greatest blessings in retirement.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Wenjiuan, and their children: Nelson, his wife Maggie, and their son Levi; and Justine, her husband Thomas, and their daughter Chloe.
Mudau's life is a legacy of faith, family, and tireless dedication. He is deeply loved and will always be remembered.
