It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nancy Jo Sartor (nee Walker) of Kirkland, WA at age 75 on Monday, February 26th, 2024. Nancy’s last days were spent surrounded by her loving family at Evergreen Hospice following a brief admission to the ICU at Evergreen Hospital. Nancy called nearby Madison House home after selling her house in Kenmore nine months ago.
Nancy is predeceased by her loving husband Tom, grandson Thomas, stepdaughter Sunni, sister Lynda and brother Johnny.
She is survived by her brother Gary, sister Donna, stepdaughters Cheryl and Amanda, her granddaughters Carlene, Amanda and Karissa, her grandsons Stephen and Zach, and her great grandchildren Fern and Oliver as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Nancy was born in Spokane, WA but her dad’s military career caused the family to constantly be on the move.
She and her 4 siblings shared the military life, travelling and schooling in France and Germany, while being instilled a strong work ethic as modelled by her parents Don and Helvi throughout their early years.
After high school, Nancy exercised independence working in upstate New York and at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA earning her nursing credentials while working full time. Finally, Nancy settled in Seattle finding her passion working with kids at Seattle Children’s Hospital. During this time, she met and married her husband, Tom. Together they earned their master’s degrees and raised two of their grandkids. Nancy was continually improving herself and the lives of others. During her 38 + years at Children’s Hospital she held multiple leadership positions in many departments; seeking to improve experiences for patients, colleagues, and her family.
Our hearts will be forever overflowing with Nancy’s generous spirit, her devotion to volunteering for animals and community service (Humane Society), her love of the Arts (5th Ave and Seattle Art Museum), and her passion for photography. And most especially for her legacy of unwavering commitment to family and friends.
Some people come into our lives for a season and for a reason making an impact on our lives. Nancy’s spirit will remain etched on our hearts forever.
