

Born on April 9, 1943 he grew up in the suburbs of Seattle Bill graduated from Edmonds High School and immediately started a family with his high school sweetheart. Blessed with two children the marriage was not to last but his love for family continued with seven more and two bonuses for a total of eleven children.
After working for several janitorial companies he started his own business, Stardom Services Inc. in 1986 and continued to run the company until his death. He also owned and operated the Sugar Shack Café in Lynnwood, Washington.
Bill’s passion for his business’ was only rivaled by his love for his family and life itself. Carrying on the traditions instilled in him by his parents, family gatherings for all holidays, birthdays, weddings, weekend get-aways, vacations, trips and almost any other “excuse” he could come up with was the norm. He was a “take-charge” man who did everything he could to make sure everyone had a good time often footing the bill himself. He loved Christmas, travel, Elvis the sun and the water feature in his front yard.
Bill was the second of five children born to William Arthur (deceased) and Kathleen Dorothea Cody-McGill (deceased) of Edmonds, Washington. His siblings include Donna Miller (Jack) of Happy Valley, Oregon, Kathy (deceased), Suzanne (deceased) and Karen Irwin (Joseph) of Everett, Washington. Vicki Cramer, Bill’s significant other of 32 years passed away in 2017. His children include Heidi Parsons (Martin) of La Quinta, CA, Todd McGill (Jolene) of Snohomish, WA, Mary Potter (James) of Granite Falls, WA, Connie Embry of Mt Vernon, WA, William McGill Jr. of Brooklyn NH, Melissa Barrett (Jeffrey) of Stuttgart, AK, Shawn McGill (Emily) of Granite Falls, WA, Michael McGill (Faith) of New Bern, NC, Christopher Miller (deceased)(Carrie) of Orange, CA , Kennedy McGill (Paula) of Bothell, WA, and Robert McGill of Bothell, WA. There are 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bill gave a lot back to the community. For thirteen years he and many family members spent 10 days at Christmas dressing up and entertaining at community center parties, nursing homes, schools and business accounts. Dancing to Mitch Miller Christmas music and dressed in elf costumes Bill’s “Meaning of Christmas” or “Elfing” as it was called even included Santa himself and Frosty the Snowman. Bill also hosted numerous fund-raisers and charity events at the Roslyn Eagles in Roslyn, WA. Bill donated to many charities including St. Jude’s Children’s hospital and the American Heart Association.
If ever there was a phrase that describes Bill McGill, it is “I did it my way.”
