Elsie O. VanBennekum

Elsie O, VanBennekum (nee Witt) 95, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2012. She was a resident of Secaucus for many years, formerly of Hoboken. Elsie was a parishioner of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are two sons, John and his wife Georgia, Bill and his wife Peg, two daughters Linda Dolan and her husband Mike and Janet Aikman and her husband John. Elsie was pre-deceased by her loving husband John, her three brothers Walter, William and George Witt and her sister Adelaide Gallo. A special joy in her life were her 12 grandchildren, Michele, Amy, Tim, Beth, David, Steven, B.J., Denise, Jason, James, Lisa & Kirstie. Elsie was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren, Abby, Jillian, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Blaine ,Claire , Zack and Brady. Visitation will be held on Monday January 23, 2012 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus. The family will gather at the funeral home with their relatives and friends on Tuesday at 9 AM for a 10 AM Funeral Service at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Secaucus. Interment to follow at Crest Haven Cemetery, Clifton, NJ.
