Joseph was born in Jersey City and has resided in Secaucus for many years.
Joe was a former owner of his own repair shop in Secaucus then worked as a mechanic for Turnpike Ford in Secaucus and then became a driver for the Town of Secaucus transporting the children to and from school and for local senior citizens.
He was predeceased by his mother Mary (Tootie) Flaig and his step father Henry (Jake) Flaig and his brother Donald Egan.
He is survived by his longtime companion Mary Lou Braude his step sister Mary Ann and her husband Frank Ackermann and his nieces Lauren, Stacey and nephew Christopher.
Private funeral services will be held at the Mack Memorial Home 1245 Paterson Plank Road Secaucus. Burial will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
