Neil Patrick Devitt, age 75, passed away on February 25th, 2026, he was born in England on the 1st of June 1950, to the late Desmond Devitt and Betty Devitt. He is survived by his loving sister Therese Mary Cass and her husband John of London England, his nephew, Paul Cass and his wife Sondra Cass, and his sister-in-law Sonia Oparski of Secaucus. His early years, including his education at Douai School, helped shape the thoughtful, curious, and deeply reflective man so many came to know. Though England was where his story began, Neil’s life unfolded across the world. He spent much of it in the Northeast of the United States, with a career in tobacco, healthcare and luxury retail while his work and adventures carried him to the Caribbean, Spain, and Senegal. Wherever he went, he left traces of kindness, humor, and quiet wisdom.
Neil carried with him a deep love for the past — especially the spirit and memories of the late 1960s and 1970s in England. Nothing embodied that nostalgia more than his lifelong devotion to Chelsea F.C. The club was more than a team to him; it was a connection to England, to his youth, and to moments of joy shared with others. Through victories and defeats, Neil’s loyalty never wavered. Beyond the places he lived or the teams he cheered for, Neil’s life was defined by something deeper — a gentle appreciation for the wonder of life. He understood that the true measure of a life is not in miles travelled or years counted, but in the love given, the friendships formed, and the memories that linger in the hearts of those left behind.
Neil’s Service will be private, but condolences and kind words of sympathy are welcome to the family.
