

Saverio Joseph D’Agostino (Sam) 93, passed away peacefully on June 24th in Livingston, N.J. Born in Hoboken, N.J., he lived in Secaucus until his 90th birthday. One of 7 children, he is survived by a sister, Clara, his daughter Maria and son John, and longtime companion, Esther DeBari. A veteran of the Korean War, Sam served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Fulton. While in the Navy, he honed his skills as a machinist, which he brought to his work at Mondale Cork, American Can Co. and Maxwell House, where he facilitated the annual employee giving campaign.
Hailing from the same town, and as a contemporary of Frank Sinatra, Sam loved to sing and even wrote the lyrics to some of his original songs including, “Huggin and a Kissin”. He also loved to fish and owned a boat that he frequently launched from Sandy Hook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A visitation for Severio will be held on Thursday, June 27th from 1 to 5PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094. A Funeral Home Service will be held Friday, June 28th at 9:30 AM here at Mack Memorial Home followed by his entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
