

Sergio Cirilli passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 80 in Pomezia, Italy. Born on November 7, 1943, in Molfetta, Italy, Sergio always had a love for the water, serving as a mate on an Italian fishing vessel in his teens, and then serving in the Italian Merchant Marines, where he had the opportunity to explore the various countries of the Mediterranean, before immigrating to America and buying a home in Ocean County and maintaining his connection to the sea.
Sergio dedicated 53 years of service to UPS, including 45 consecutive years of safe driving before taking various non-driving roles, marking him as a cornerstone of reliability and commitment in his professional life. He was a proud member of Teamster’s Local 177, where he served as a shop stewart. His career was a testament to hard work and loving devotion, both at home and in his career.
His hobbies included traveling to Italy, watching Serie A soccer, engaging in home projects, and spending cherished moments with his family. These activities reflected his love for his birth country, craftsmanship, and family bonds. He was extremely proud of his participation with the Arciconfraternita Della Motte Dal Sacco Nero (The Confraternity of the Sacred Heart of the Dead. ) while home in Molfetta.
His family takes great comfort in knowing his last months were dedicated to spending time with his children and grandchildren. Many weekends were spent at his beloved “shore house” caring for his plants and soaking up some sun. In his final weeks he was able to spend time in his home town of Molfetta visiting with his lifelong friends and family. His final days were spent at his Italian residence in Pomezia with his loving sister, Maddalena.
Sergio cherished the time with his children and his grandchildren and loved them deeply. He is survived by his daughter, Marta Mary and son-in-law, Raymond Kuebler; son, John Corrado and daughter-in-law, Sarah Burt; daughter Loren Paula; grandchildren, Christopher, Luciana, and Alexander; sister, Maddalena; and brothers, Carlo and Nicola, as well as various nieces and nephews. Sergio was preceded in death by his parents, Corrado and Brigida, and his brothers, Luigi and Giovanni.
A visitation for Sergio will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4 to 8PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 28 Brookline Ave, Nutley, NJ followed by his entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate in memory of Sergio. His life and legacy will be remembered by all who knew him as a pillar of strength, love, and generosity.
